Sustainable Living

There are many ways to reduce your climate impact by making simple changes to your daily life in and around the home.

Electricity and Water

  • Switching off your lights and appliances after use is an easy way to save energy. Appliances on standby, such as kettles, microwaves, TVs and laptops will still be using power even if they’re on standby.

  • Showers can use up to 12litres of water per minute! Try reducing your time in the shower, ideally to 4 minutes, to save water and energy.

  • For more information on energy and water saving tips, visit these pages:

Reuse, Recycle

  • Recycling at home is easy follow the Recycle Now steps and start recycling at home today.

  • Use take-back schemes for beauty and grooming packaging that is difficult to recycle, the Recycle now Recycling Locator Tool displays the take-back scheme locations

Travel and Transport

  • Walking and cycling is the best way to to not only keep active and healthy, but also to reduce your carbon footprint.

  • Using public transport or car sharing with your housemates could not only save you petrol & parking money, but also reduces single occupancy journeys.

  • Research your delivery companies such as Deliveroo who are known for using pedal power or local taxi companies who drive electrics cars, such as Eco Cars.
